X-Men: Days of Future Past "The Rogue Cut" rated PG-13 for brief nudity, violence, language

Many people recommended X-Men:  Days of Future Past  but I dismissed the recommendations.  My sister owned a copy of the "theatrical" version and I refused to watch it.  I was initially reluctant for no reason other than that I had no interest.  An acquaintance encouraged my watching the "Rogue Cut" of X-Men:  Days of Future Past and even lent me her copy.  I didn't watch it for a few months.  Finally I gave in to curiosity and the fact that my sister put the film on because she wanted to see the film too.  I was delighted with the film as turns out.
I completely understood why people recommended the film (Although, with the exception of my acquaintance, all recommended the "theatrical" version.  This was appears to be due to ignorance of the "Rogue Cut".) after watching the film.  I particularly enjoyed Evan Peters portrayal of Quicksilver (although I did not connect the character Quicksilver with the Avengers 2 film for some reason).
The plot of X-Men:  Days of Future Past is that robots called the Sentinels were created to destroy mutants and they have nearly completely succeeded.  A small group of mutants including Kitty (played by Ellen Page), Bishop (played by Omar Sy),  Ice Man (played by Shawn Ashmore), Colossus (played by Daniel Cudmore), Blink (played by Bingbing Fan), Sunspot (played by Adan Canto) and Warpath (played by Booboo Stewart) have managed to hold out against the Sentinels through Kitty's ability to manipulate time and as such the small group are able to keep one foot ahead of the Sentinels.
The group is approached by Professor Xavier (played excellently by Sir Patrick Stewart), Storm (played by Halle Berry), Magneto (also played excellently by Sir Ian McKellan) and Wolverine (played by Hugh Jackman) to attempt to stop the Sentinel program from ever happening.  The idea is to send someone back in time to stop Mystique (played excellently by Jennifer Lawrence) from committing a murder that will cause the Sentinel program to go into effect.
To succeed at stopping Mystique, whoever goes back in time will need to reunite Mystique with Magneto (played by Michael Fassbender) and Professor Xavier (played by James McAvoy).  It is decided that, due to his healing abilities, Wolverine will be the one to go back.  Kitty cautions that a) she hasn't sent someone that far back in time before and b) that if the Sentinels come she won't have time to reset the timeline therefore Wolverine has to succeed and he has to succeed before the Sentinels find them as they inevitably will find the group.  Wolverine also has the added pressure of he must succeed within a certain timeline in the past itself to prevent the murder from happening.
Overall, the film was so good.  After watching the film I learned that there was one whole extra sequence of scenes and one extra scene that were included in this version of the picture.  After hearing about the differences I must say that I feel that this version is the superior version and I can only conjecture that the cuts were made for time purposes.  Frankly the additional scenes just made the story richer so if you haven't seen this version yet, I strongly recommend taking the time to do so.
Really the whole cast was all around fantastic. The story was great.  The scenes with Quicksilver were hilarious and I sincerely hope to see more of this version of Quicksilver in future films although now that Apocalypse has come out, I don't know how it would be possible to see more of this Quicksilver.
This film has violence and brief nudity but it isn't particularly graphic so I think that most people would be ok watching this film although I'm not sure about younger children.   Honestly it depends on the respective child and the respective parent.  Personally I would be ok watching this film around younger children.  The language isn't terrible and it certainly isn't gratuitous (which is nice I must say).
